Transformational Journeys: Kenya
with Betty S. Maitoyo and Charles Haig
The Transformational Journey to Kenya focused on climate change and how it has affected the Pastoralist (herder) communities. Their livelihoods have been threatened due to long droughts and children have been forced out of school. Those still in school live on their own as parents search for pastures and water for their livestock. As a result, many children are at risk. At discussions with community leaders, teachers and children we heard first-hand their concerns and their hopes for the future. Women’s economic empowerment projects were also visited and we talked with women to identify how they contribute positively to supplementing their families’ income.

Parking on Sundays
Sunday parking at Plaza Las Fuentes (Westin Hotel) is only free until 1:00 p.m. If you stay later you will have to pay for additional time. If you are attending the 1:00 p.m. Bilingual Service or staying for an event, please park at the Kaiser parking structure, north of the church on the northeast corner of Euclid Ave. and Walnut, where the parking is free.

MONTHLY TAIZE PRAYER SERVICE (On Sabbath Until After Labor Day)

Being The Light!

This service is for anyone who wishes to worship in a more casual environment, in a space where kids are a part of the entire service, and in a more interactive, participatory, and multigenerational atmosphere. The 45-minute service is a regular Eucharist that is a moving, spiritual experience for everyone. It is highly participatory, involving children, youth, and adults in all parts of the service including ushering, readings, acolytes, etc. Our hope is that the space and the style are accessible to each person that comes and invites everyone to feel God’s unconditional love and presence. All are invited to attend and we encourage you to invite your friends, family and neighbors to come as well.
