6:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
East Steps, on Euclid Avenue side
Across from All Saints Church (132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena, CA 91101)

Faith leaders and over 30 religious and community organizations from the Greater Los Angeles Area will converge on Pasadena City Hall for a candlelight vigil and public prayer service to call for the passage of Comprehensive Immigration Reform and an end to the federal government shutdown, which is preventing Congress from passing Comprehensive Immigration Reform. This call to action will also urge the Pasadena City Council to approve a pending resolution of support for immigration reform.

Every day in our country an estimated 1,100 immigrants are deported because of the inhumane and broken immigration system. The impact is disproportionately felt in our state and region—California is home to an estimated 2.6 million undocumented immigrants, nearly 1 million of which reside in Los Angeles County. In one year, California deported nearly 90,000 people under the Secure Communities program. One in five children in Los Angeles County have at least one undocumented parent. Locally, according to the 2010 Census, 31% of the city of Pasadena’s population is foreign born.

Highly visual interpretations of scripture will be used during the service to highlight the gathered community’s call to action, and the critical need for providing a pathway to citizenship for all immigrants. In addition to prayers and statements from faith and community leaders, a local immigrant family will share their story to give voice to the ongoing crisis in our immigration system.
