Here is Ed Bacon’s account of his visit with the Dalai Lama on Nov. 8:

Hope Hendricks-Bacon, Robert Winter, and I had an exhilarating thirty minutes with His Holiness the Dalai Lama this afternoon. The time flew, talking about a wide range of topics including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Nelson Mandela, Thomas Merton, the common themes in all the religions, the need to interrupt bullying and exclusion, brain science, and what happens when you die.

He played with us, joked with us, made fun of our bald heads and overweight bodies. We enjoyed some riotous laughter and a surprising amount of physical affection. At one point he took my hand and caressingly placed it on his cheek and I did the same. Then he leaned over making his forehead touch mine. After generous gift exchanging he had to move on through a very busy schedule.

We left walking on clouds of blessing and I began to bless everyone I saw.

I’ll write more later, but now in New Delhi, the jet lag has caught up with me fully and I’m going to bed.

I love you all. Thank you for praying us over to this part of the world and through this momentous meeting.
