On this Monday of the third week of Lent — as we continue the forty day journey to Easter — these words from Sunday’s Eucharist continue to resonate in my heart and in my mind.
They are, for me, words that transcend the finite journey that is the liturgical season of Lent and call us to be both mindful and responsive to the call to follow Jesus in order to do God’s work of love, justice and compassion in the world.
God of the desert,
as we follow Jesus into the unknown,
help us to find our true selves on the journey.
Sustain us with your life-giving Spirit
and empower us to do your work in the world.
