Jim was born and raised in a quiet suburb outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A musician from his earliest days, Jim holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in clarinet performance from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. In addition to clarinet, Jim has done orchestral and opera conducting, and was on the faculty of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Jim moved to Southern California to attend Fuller Theological Seminary, where he obtained his Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Formation and Discipleship. He has worked in churches both large and small, and more recently has served in various development roles at Segerstrom Center for the Arts and Sharefest Community Development.
Jim enjoys music of all kinds, red wine and Fair-Trade coffee, experiencing the world during his many travel adventures, driving with his moon roof open on warm days and eating a minimum of two bags of popcorn while watching movies at home.
Growing up with a diverse religious background, Jim is delighted to have an opportunity to work in a church that is passionate about peace, justice and a radical welcoming of people from all walks of life.
