Juliana served six years on the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley and was Vice-Chair from 2015-2017. Juliana also serves as Vice-Chair of the Board for Learning Works, a Pasadena public charter school focused on turning high school dropouts into graduates. In addition, she is an Advisory Board Member to the Pasadena Community College (PCC) Flea Market. Juliana was an Advisory Board Member for the Center for Council and the Vice President of Advocacy for the Board of Directors of the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness from 2013-2015. She was appointed by former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and approved by the Los Angeles City Council, and served as a Commissioner for the Relocation Appeals Board from 2009-2013.

Raised in La Verne, California, she is the youngest of three children and was raised by her parents who immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia, South America. She currently resides in Pasadena.
