Policy for the 100%

Sunday, June 5

Sister Simone Campbell, SSS is a driving force for programs and policies that support faith, family, and fairness. Rooted in a deep spirituality of compassion and service, Sister Simone is part of the forty year old organization NETWORK — a nationwide movement united by a belief in the Gospel call for justice as exemplified in the Catholic social justice tradition. We are truly thrilled to welcome her to the Forum this Sunday to present “Reweaving the Fabric of Our Society: Policy for the 100%.”

Sister Simone rose to national attention in the summer of 2012 when — along with the group of fellow Roman Catholic nuns who came to be known as “Nuns on a Bus” — she toured parts of the country to rally support against a congressional budget plan that cut vital social programs for the hurting poor and the struggling middle class. Prayer groups turned into rallies, and small town meetings became national media events. Her powerful, inspiring witness offers a compelling vision of a lived spirituality that is at the heart of progressive Christian movements working for change and is the subject an upcoming documentary film.

Join us on Sunday, June 5, in the Forum at 10:15 a.m. to be inspired by Sister Simone — a truly amazing giant of justice. “A Nun on the Bus” — the book about her story — will be available for purchase in the Forum.
