On June 18, Pope Francis will issue an encyclical about the global climate crisis. The encyclical promises to give a scientific analysis of the crisis as well as the Pope’s theology of creation and ecology and is one of the most anticipated encyclicals in papal history.

On Sunday, June 21 the Rector’s Forum at All Saints Church will be dedicated to a conversation we are calling “The Pope and the Planet” – including a summary of the Vatican document and an opportunity to address its impact on the community of activists, the church, and the ongoing dialogue between faith and science.

And we are delighted to welcome into that conversation Dr. Brian Treanor – a Professor of Philosophy from Loyola Marymount University and a leading expert in environmental ethics. His areas of specialization include “green” living/environmental living/sustainable living, environmental ethics and environmental virtue – making him uniquely equipped to enlighten, inform and inspire us.

So please do mark your calendars now for Sunday, June 21st and don’t miss this important conversation between Ed Bacon and Brian Treanor on “the Pope and the planet” – in the Rector’s Forum at 10:15 a.m.
