This Sunday at All Saints Church: August 20

On the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost we welcome Antonio Gallardo — our Pastor for Latino Ministries — to the pulpit at all four services: 7:30, 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. and at the 1:00 p.m. Spanish service.

Worship is the center of our life at All Saints Church — for it is from that center that we respond to God’s call to put our faith into action. Join us on Sunday and throughout the week as we work together to make God’s love tangible 24/7.

A Conversation About Our Parish Policy on Alcohol
with Mike Kinman
In 2015 the General Convention of the Episcopal Church adopted a resolution committing the church “to create a new normal in our relationship with alcohol. We aspire to be a place in which conversations about alcohol, substance misuse, or addiction are not simply about treatment but about renewal, justice, wholeness, and healing.” The resolution also included a policy on alcohol and other substance misuse — and it encouraged dioceses, congregations, seminaries, schools, young adult ministries, and affiliated institutions to update their policies on the use of alcohol and other substances with the potential for misuse. In response to that call, the All Saints Vestry has begun the process of updating our parish policy – and part of that process is a parish-wide conversation scheduled for Sunday, August 20 at 10:15 a.m. in the Forum. Please join us … we want your input.

The Book of Acts: A Handbook of Resistance and Inclusion (Part Three)
with Brian Robinson
Finding space for the Other — Gentiles: One of the most important issues in the New Testament is on the status and purpose of Gentiles (i.e., non-Jews) within the people of God. This week will explore how Acts understandsthe inclusion of Gentiles without requiring conversion. Such a bold act requires the community to come to a new understanding of itself, its sacred texts, and its traditions as it adapts to God’s radical and unexpected inclusion of the Other. — Sweetland Hall

Death and Immortality: Problems with the Immaterial Soul (Part Three)
with Jeremy Langill
In this four part series, we’ll be exploring different ideas about what happens to us after we die. Is there any form of existence beyond the death of our bodies, or is this life all that we have? — Guild Room
