Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Additionally, during the week of November 14-20, individuals and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility of transgender and gender non-conforming people and address the issues these communities face.

Today we remember especially all those throughout the years who have courageously lifted their voices to be agents of change in overcoming the toxin of transphobia.

Here at All Saints Church we remember particularly those who produced and participated in “Voices of Witness: Out of the Box” … the groundbreaking documentary giving voice to the witness of transgender people of faith courageously telling their stories of hope, healing and wholeness. Produced in 2012 as a gift to the Episcopal Church by Integrity (the Episcopal Church’s LGBT Caucus organization) and filmed here at All Saints it continues to speak its truth and its witness has arguably never been more necessary than it is today.
