Women’s March/LA: Calling All Episcopalians

On Saturday, January 21st women and men committed to the shared values of love, justice and compassion will take to the streets in a nationwide demonstration of solidarity and sacred resistance — and All Saints is proud that The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles is organizing to be part of that witness. From the Facebook Event:

Led by our Sanctuary Resolution Task Force, Episcopalians are encouraged to participate in the Women’s March/LA.organizing under the banner of #EpiscopalSacredResistance. Come as individuals, families or congregations as we put our faith into action making God’s love tangible in this important moment in our nation’s history.

Bring signs, symbols (including parish banners!) and positive energy as we stand together in support of our baptismal promise to respect the dignity of every human being and strive for peace and justice.

So here’s the deal:
* Check out the official Women’s March/LA page for all the rally/march details.
* Plan to arrive by 9:30 a.m. and meet up at the corner of 6th & Olive (look for the Episcopal flags)
* Clergy: Please wear collars/stoles to enhance the visible presence of our witness as a faith community

From the Official Women’s March/LA page:

“The march will start at 10:00 am and will last until approx 11:30 am. The march starts at Pershing Square and loops back to Pershing Square where there will be an event in the park until approximately 3:00 pm. There will be entertainment, speakers, informational booths and food trucks.”

“The march is open to everyone who stands for human rights, civil liberties, tolerance of diversity, and compassion for our shared humanity. We stand together in solidarity for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families — recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.”

OUR MISSION: In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us. We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all.
