Ashley Lynn Hengst

Ashley is a Cuban American lesbian from Miami, Florida who has a great passion for pastoral care.

For the first 10 years of her career, Ashley worked at the YMCA in various youth development programs. She led a Summer Day Camp, the creative arts programs, sports classes, archery and STEM. Ashley especially loves working with middle-schoolers because they are the best! In 2016, Ashley began working for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, helping cancer families advocate for the funding of childhood research grants. Every March, Ashley fundraises for St. Baldrick’s to help raise money for research grants. She loves her community and serves on the committee for the South Pasadena Prayer Breakfast. Ashley clearly loves going to school. She has her Bachelor’s degree in English from North Carolina Central University, her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University, and her Masters in Divinity from Claremont School of Theology. She is also a student with the Writing Academy of the Golden Crown Literary Society, an organization that supports creative writing of Sapphic fiction.

Ashley is the host of “The Unlearning Podcast” where each week she helps people learn to love Jesus and their neighbor through healthy, life-giving theology. This past June, Ashley and her wife Jen, welcomed into the world their first child, Ruth Ellen.  When Ashley is not working at All Saints or writing, she is spending time with Jen and Ruth Ellen, singing off-key, taking lots of walks around Alhambra park, trying new recipes and growing fresh vegetables in their garden.
