The All Saints Church Homeless Memorial Planning Committee and Juliana Serrano would like to invite you to join us in honoring and paying our respects at a memorial service for people who died this year on our streets because they had no place to call home. All Saints Church, leaders from other faith communities, homeless service providers and recipients will come together at the 7th Annual Homeless Memorial Service on Tuesday, December 12, at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary at 132 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena. A dinner reception will follow at 7 p.m. in Sweetland Hall.
Approximately 575 individuals in Pasadena were identified homeless during the 2017 City of Pasadena Homeless Count, and there are many more in the 30 cities of the San Gabriel Valley. Because homeless persons often die alone, have no obituary, and are not formally accounted for by any system, we are not sure exactly how many died last year. Yet, each year we gather names from places that serve this population and those we know living on the street, and we hold these names up in prayer and thanksgiving. We do this not only to honor the individuals and acknowledge them as members of the human family, but also to raise awareness in our communities that we need to work together to end homelessness for the sake of everyone.
