Fiscal Year 2022 Final Budget

Dear Ones,

I want to tell you about All Saints’ 2022 budget, which was approved by the Vestry in February and presented at the March 27 Annual Meeting. I am deeply grateful to our staff, Wardens, Finance Committee and Vestry for their committed and diligent work throughout this process. There were challenges along the way, but the dedicated perseverance of these generous people made it happen. At each important step, we were guided by All Saints’ core values of Radical Inclusion, Courageous Justice, Joyful Spirituality, and Ethical Stewardship.

Our process was based in these planning assumptions:

1) not returning to the way things were in 2019 and previously;
2) anticipating disparity and financial insecurity among parishioners;
3) assuming diminished capacity for everyone;
4) hybrid models and innovation making the difference; and
5) our focus on dismantling which supremacy and becoming anti-racist.

There also were budget assumptions underlying our work:

1) prioritizing a 4% Cost of Living increase for staff;
2) full funding for a fourth clergy position;
3) deferring fulfillment of the Director of Faith Into Action position;
4) creating and filling the long-postponed position of Facilities/Office Manager;
5) adding a part-time Human Resources Generalist to the staff;
6) increasing the compensation package for a new Director of Giving & Stewardship;
7) six administrative assistants; and
8) outsourcing our accounting operation.

As you will see, the 2022 budget has a small deficit. In discussion with the Finance Committee and subsequently the Vestry, all agreed that – having made many expense reductions already – a deficit budget was acceptable this year, although this is not nor should it be a regular practice. These leaders believed it important that All Saints be positioned to thrive in 2022, as we undertake Strategic Directions work to identify goals that will drive our work, and our budgeting, for 2023 and beyond.

We are eager for you to understand and embrace this budget, which tells All Saints’ story in a different way. Thank you for supporting All Saints Church. Your pledges and other gifts make possible the work and witness of this extraordinary community. I am deeply grateful to you!

Con el amor de Cristo,

Mike Kinman, Rector
