From Mike Kinman, Rector of All Saints Church:
I am thrilled to announce that on Tuesday, June 25th the vestry unanimously approved the recommendation of the Capital Campaign Finance Committee for a new, maximally accessible playground on our north lawn – delivering at least in part on the promise made that these funds would be used to provide excellent, beautiful and welcoming space for our children, youth and families.
This addition to the campus is but one of the ways we are living into our value of Radical Inclusion – dedicating this special space to young families at All Saints Church and beyond. Specifically, the playground will feature colorful equipment including a slide, two traditional swings, a wheelchair accessible swing, a tire swing, a swing for a toddler and parent to enjoy together and easy access for children with mobility challenges. Another feature – called the Skyrunner – will engage several older children as they whirl around hanging from a metal ring. And the wildly popular SpaceNet will remain in place alongside the new playground equipment.
The decision to move forward with the new playground is an exciting step not only for the children it will delight but for all of us as our imaginations continue to guide our thinking about what else is possible for the future of our campus. Installation of the new playground equipment is expected to be completed this fall.
Please join me in giving thanks for the dedicated members of the CYF (Children, Youth & Families) Committee and CYF staff who have worked for months with the Building & Grounds Committee and members of our relatively new Planning and Campus Enrichment Strategies (PACES) Task Force to research options and develop the playground proposal. We are so very blessed by this collaborative work among so many volunteers and staff.
