Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week we are again concerned with passing the For the People Act, S.1, with a focus on urging Senator Feinstein to do whatever is takes to pass it.

The For the People Act represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalize our democracy. The bill, in the U.S. Senate now would protect and expand voting, strengthen our campaign finance and ethics laws, and create fair redistricting nationwide. This summer, we need to put massive pressure on the Senate to take action for our democracy.

This fight is not going to be easy. Over the last few months, we have seen that those elected officials who don’t want to put power in the hands of everyday people will use every procedural trick in their playbook to avoid a real debate on these much-needed reforms.

Senator Feinstein needs to hear that we’re counting on her to do whatever it takes to make this historic bill the law of the land. Our democracy is at stake. We need to send a message – loud and clear – to Senator Feinstein: Do everything possible to support a big, bold For the People Act and don’t let anything, including the filibuster, get in the way.

If we want a system in which every eligible voter has a voice, we must act now.
