Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week the focus of our action is protecting biodiversity. We urge our U.S. Senators to support the Recovering America’s Wildlfe Act (S.1149).

Biodiversity is a cornerstone of a healthy environment. It is an essential part of life-sustaining ecosystems that supply clean air, water, and land. In recent years biodiversity itself has been under threat with a UN report estimating that one million species face extinction. Currently, there are 1,493 species listed under the Endangered Species Act and now more than ever, it is crucial we work to conserve them and their natural habitats. We can help critically endangered species recover and prevent them from going extinct.

The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act of 2023 (S.1149) can play an important role in this effort. This bipartisan legislation would create permanent funding for the Endangered Species Act to better support endangered species and prevent their extinction. It has support from conservation groups at the local, tribal, state, and national levels.

It is our call as Christians to not only care for each other but for all of God’s creatures. The Episcopal Church has shown support for endangered species as part of creation care for decades. Supporting this bill will allow for the most vulnerable wildlife to receive better protection before it is too late.

Please sign a letter telling your Senators to cosponsor the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act!
