Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week we are urging Governor Gavin Newsom to sign into law the following four bills promoting affordable housing that have been passed by the legislature.
AB 2097, (Residential, commercial, or other development types: Prohibit local parking requirements). This bill would prohibit a public agency from imposing any minimum automobile parking requirement on any residential, commercial, or other development project, as defined, that is located within 1/2 mile of a public transit station.
SB 679 (Los Angeles County Regional Housing Finance Act), provides for the establishment of a special district that supports and finances housing development, including special beneficiary districts that are authorized to promote affordable housing development.
AB 2011 (Affordable Housing and High Road Jobs Act of 2022) The Planning and Zoning Law authorizes a development proponent to submit an application for a multifamily housing development that is subject to a streamlined, ministerial approval process and not subject to a conditional use permit if the development satisfies specified objective planning standards.,
And
SB 886 (California Environmental Quality Act: exemption): This gives public universities and colleges an environmental impact exemption for university and college housing development projects.
