Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week we are signing a letter to our members of Congress calling on them to back legislation supporting the right of women to choose an abortion if they feel, in consultation with their doctors and families, that an abortion is the best option given their circumstances.

We are outraged by the law passed and signed in Texas that makes abortion illegal after six weeks, a point in the pregnancy when most women don’t even know they are pregnant, and a law that turns enforcement over to a vigilante mechanism that is designed to skirt court scrutiny.

We are also outraged by the failure of the Supreme Court to block a blatantly unconstitutional law. The majority’s specious reasoning against an injunction betrays a prejudicial agenda against a woman’s right to choose.

In the face of this, we are demanding that Congress pass legislation to codify Roe vs. Wade into law and urge Congress to consider legislation to rebalance what has obviously become a ideologically tilted Supreme Court.
