All Saints Celebrates the 19th Amendment

The 19th Amendment was passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, and was ratified on August 18, 1920 when Tennessee became 36th state to ratify it — guaranteeing American women the right to vote. Achieving this milestone required a lengthy and difficult struggle; an incremental victory which took decades of agitation and protest — and work that was not finished until the 1965 Voting Rights Act protected the votes of black women.

This Tuesday August 18, 2020 we invite all members of the All Saints community to mark the 100th anniversary of that historic moment by wearing white in solidarity with the Suffragists who persisted until the victory of votes for women was won — and with all those who continue to agitate and protest for justice and equality.

Post your photos on the ASC Facebook group and we’ll turn them into a virtual procession! https://www.facebook.com/groups/4760348537/ (And if you’re “not a Facebook person” email yours to info@allsaints-pas.org and we’ll fix you up!)

And then … Vote on November 3!! (More information on our 100% Voting Congregation Initiative here.)
