Fifty volunteers are dedicating their time to the All Saints Church 100% Voting Congregation Initiative and making contact with almost 1,000 members. Over the next month, these volunteers will be contacting their assigned members by phone and/or email to confirm their eligibility and voter registration status. Should any of All Saints’ members contacted need to update their voter registration address, or register for the first time, volunteers will be ready to provide support.
The members being contacted by the volunteers are those who do not match the California state voter file. There are several reasons why a member may not match the voter file, including but not limited to, being an eligible voter that is not registered to vote. For most members, there is likely a discrepancy between the name or address we have on file, and what the state has for their voter registration name and address.
We are focusing on contacting these 1,000 or so members because we want to make sure that if they are eligible voters, they are registered and ready to vote in the November General Election. The vast majority of All Saints members will not be contacted. That is because we know that 84% of our membership is registered and voted in the last General Election! By providing support to the remaining 16% of our community – we will be able to claim that we are a 100% voting congregation!
In the weeks leading up to the election, the volunteers will also be making follow up calls to their assigned members, so as to provide information about voting in the election (for example, how to vote by mail or safely at a voting center), educational information about the various ballot measures, and to confirm their participation in the November 2020 General Election.
At the culmination of this initiative – All Saints should be able to claim that 100% of our congregation voted in the General Election, while also having been able to build relationship between members of our community, and making important updates to our church database!
