Pastoral Update on Rector Emeritus George Regas

Last night, All Saints Church Rector Emeritus George Regas left the hospital and returned home where he is receiving hospice care. After a restful night, Mary reports that George is alert, not in pain, and responding well to being with her at home. Sally Howard and I have spent time with George over the past two days praying with him and assuring him of the love and prayers of the whole All Saints family. Wilma Jakobsen sent a lovely message from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, which brought a spark to George’s eyes as we read it to him.

Over and over, we have been relaying your love for him and the deep and profound ways he has transformed your lives. Thank you for your continued prayers and love. I can testify that he absolutely is aware of them and they are bringing him peace and joy. We will continue to be in touch with George and Mary and relay your prayers and messages of love.

Mary is so grateful for your love and prayers and continues to ask for privacy for her and the family at this time.  We are collecting cards and remembrances to be delivered to George and Mary. You can send them c/o All Saints Church, 132 North Euclid Ave, Pasadena CA 91101

Con el amor de Cristo,
Mike

Holy God, source of all healing, surround your child George with your healing power. Continue to give him a strong sense of your grace and love. Free him from pain and anxiety and bring him to wholeness of body, mind and spirit. Be with Mary and all who love and care for George. As he moves more fully into your presence, may the flame of your love continue to burn brightly in George … and may that love flow through us to him, to Mary and to this church that George loves so dearly. In the name of our brother, Jesus, the great healer, we pray. Amen.
