Friday, March 24 — Fiction Fun! Reads Agatha of Little Neon
7:00 p.m., in the Guild Room. Claire Luchette, Agatha of Little Neon (2021). It’s a novel with solid literary credentials about a sister in a Catholic convent whose life gets upended when she’s 29. As the New York Times reviewer summarizes, an economic crisis moves her and three other sisters to a parish in Rhode Island, “where they will live and work in a Catholic halfway house called Little Neon, so named for its bright green exterior paint, bought on sale.” To the reviewer, “The power and pleasure of this novel lie in the slow blooming of desire from tiny seeds of doubt.”
