Friday, April 28 — Fiction Fun! Reads Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway
7:00 p.m., in the Guild Room. “She felt very young, at the same time, unspeakably aged. She sliced like a knife through everything; at the same time was outside, looking on.” James Wood quoted these words in the New Yorker in April 2021, saying, “this is how Mrs. Dalloway thinks of herself,” early in Virginia Woolf’s novel. “It’s an even better description of how Woolf writes — how she passes between and beyond her characters, their anima, and ghost, imminent and posthumous at once.” It’s a classic, and we’ll be getting two years ahead of its centennial.” Join us!
