Remembering the Holy Innocents: A Requiem for the Children, Thursday, December 28, 6:00–7:00 p.m.
An All Saints-hosted Interfaith Service of Lament.
We will gather with ecumenical and interfaith guests in honor, remembrance and lament for children who have been killed since October 7th. There will be readings, prayers and music. At the end of the service people are welcome to process outside with candles to the art installation of flags and shoes in the midst of which you’ll find the baby Jesus born in the rubble of Gaza. After the service, the installation will be retired and the shoes donated.
In the Christian liturgical calendar, Holy Innocents Day invites us to remember the children in Bethlehem slaughtered by King Herod in his pursuit to kill baby Jesus. It is a devastating reminder that the most innocent and vulnerable among us always suffer the most, and a reminder that Jesus was a Jew from Palestine who identifies with those who suffer.
Join us for this special service of lament. We believe you will find it moving and memorable.
