Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols

In the warm ambience of the candlelit church, Coventry Choir offers motets, carols and canticles of intense, mystical beauty. This year, we are excited to present music exclusively by women composers: Fishell, Nixon, Beamish, Von Bingen, Einfelde and Wheeler. The structure of this service, which pairs scripture with music, offers a meaningful opportunity to highlight the contributions of women within the broader narrative of Christian history. Their deeply reflective compositions explore themes of hope, peace, and spiritual longing that are especially resonant during Advent. By showcasing their work, we expand our musical repertoire, deepen our understanding of music, and promote a more inclusive and equitable musical tradition for all. Tim Rich offers a meditation.
