Summer Sundays: Connecting the All Saints & St. Barnabas Stories
Sunday, September 10, at 9:00 a.m. in the Guild Room.
Join us for our final Summer Sundays offering: Connecting the All Saints & St. Barnabas Stories — an important conversation exploring the history of the relationship between All Saints Church and our neighboring congregation, St. Barnabas, Pasadena. We will examine All Saints’ participation in the systemic segregation of the Jim Crow era, including the story of how African Americans who were excluded from worshiping at All Saints Church planted St. Barnabas Church as an Episcopal mission in 1923. As we celebrate the decades of vibrant ministry of St. Barnabas Church, we also acknowledge All Saints’ complicity in the sin of racism which led to its founding and commit to continuing to be engaged in an ongoing process of self-examination and repentance. This conversation will be part of that process. [The program will be filmed for archived viewing on our YouTube Channel.]
