Susan Russell explores what the Bible says — and doesn’t say — about LGBTQ people and how to dismantle the misuse of our sacred texts as weapons of mass discrimination. It is impossible to ignore the fact that we continue to experience an amplification of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation – and with the election cycle heating up, it is sadly going to get worse before it gets better. Recognizing that far too often this anti-LGBTQ+ polemic is fueled by toxic theology presuming to speak for all Christians, it is more important than ever for us to equip ourselves to stand up and speak out in rebuttal to the rabid rhetoric of the religious right.
