Sunday, February 2 — Transformational Journey: Compline Service at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral
8:00 p.m. at 514 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90007. Please meet at the Cathedral (free parking on-site).
Transformational Journeys returns in 2025 with a visit to the Compline service at St. John’s Cathedral. Compline is among the most ancient services of the Christian tradition. It was originally designed in the 6th century to prepare monks to transition from work to sleep at the end of the day. So, how can a 6th century monastic service speak to our frenzied 21st century lives? Through candlelight. Through prayer. Through stillness. Through song.
Those who are interested may arrive early to enjoy a meal at any of the nearby restaurants. Please arrive early enough to tour and enjoy the beauty of the Cathedral before the service, which begins at 8:00 pm and lasts about 30 minutes. The Cathedral hosts a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service.
