One of our foundational goals at All Saints Church is Ethical Stewardship – and one of the ways we live out that value is in our pledge to be ethical stewards of our planet: “this fragile Earth, our island home.”
We continue to live out the commitments made by the 2016 Vestry Resolution on Climate Change under the leadership of our Climate Change Task Force – and from October 31-November 12 we are joining with Episcopalians all over the church supporting COP26: The United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
From our Episcopal Church’s COP26 webpage:
The Episcopal Church is committed to growing loving, liberating and life-giving relationships across the human family and with all of God’s creation. Our commitment to the call of Jesus has led us to engage in mitigation and right-sizing our lives as individuals and ministries, and to stand with frontline communities in laboring for environmental justice, ending environmental racism and finding a swift and just solution to the climate crisis. Therefore, during the COP26 negotiations, we urge Parties and all other stakeholders to embrace these priorities. Read the Policy Priorities here.
The Diocese of Los Angeles is proud to count our own Canon Melissa McCarthy as part of the Presiding Bishop’s COP26 delegation and look forward to hearing more from her after the conference on its impact and next steps for us as individuals, as a congregation, and as a wider community.
“COP26 is happening at a critical time and The Episcopal Church is essential to this work because of our unique ability to hold the tension of opposites and bring people together across many differences. The next generations will have no time of day for a church that is not working this issue on all fronts. To me, the future of the church and the future of our planet depend on our willingness to engage the issue of climate change.”
~ The Rev. Canon Melissa McCarthy, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles

Bountiful God, you call us to labor with you in tending the earth: Where we lack love, open our hearts to the world; where we waste, give us discipline to conserve; where we neglect, awaken our minds and wills to insight and care. May we with all your creatures honor and serve you in all things, for you live and reign with Christ, Redeemer of all, and with your Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
