Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week we are asking everyone to sign a letter to the Mayor-elect of Pasadena, Victor Gordo, who will be taking office on December 7.
The city of Pasadena is confronting many challenges. Upper most among them are: the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing homelessness and housing insecurity and demands for social justice particularly with respect to police violence. We want to congratulate Victor Gordo for achieving his new position and wish the new mayor well as he works with the city council and the city government to address these and other challenges facing Pasadena.
We inform the new mayor that each week at All Saints, we put our faith into action as a part of our worship service and that this often consists of encouraging church attendees to sign on to a petition or letter to our elected officials at the Federal, State or local level. We point out that he can expect to hear from us at some point in the future about the issues that are important to us: affordable housing, homelessness, police reform, immigration, violence prevention, and racial justice, just to name a few.
We also remind him that during his campaign he promised to center his leadership in the voices of the Pasadena community and will take action on matters in a way that is responsive and works for everyone. We also inform him that we will look forward to watching him live into this ideal and we commit ourselves to being a partner with him in making sure that he pursues this ideal throughout his tenure.
