Faith in Action: July 12 – Justice for Andres Guardado

Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action and this week we stand with those seeking justice for Andres Guardado … a Salvadoran teenager from Compton, who was fatally shot by an L.A. County Sheriff Deputy while he was running away.

Making matters worse, the Sheriff’s Department has put Andres’ autopsy on a ‘security hold’ — which means that they can legally withhold the autopsy report and the cause of death from the public. It could be months or years before we find out what really happened to Andres.

The LA County Board of Supervisors have called for an independent investigation into Andres’ death — but instead of providing answers, deputies are terrorizing people marching for justice for Andres with rubber bullets and tear gas.

The Sheriff’s Department cannot be trusted to handle this investigation. They have proven time and time again that they are incapable of objectively investigating themselves.

That’s why we join with those demanding that Attorney General Xavier Becerra start his own investigations into the murder of Andres Guardado. Sign the petition here.
