Faith in Action: June 7 – Justice for George Floyd Petition

Every Sunday we put our faith into action at All Saints Church and this Sunday we invite you take part in a NAACP ACTION in response to the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

As the world faces unprecedented times and new realities during this global pandemic, and incidents of hate and domestic terrorism are perpetuated leading to routine brutalization of African-Americans, the health and safety of our people are at an unparalleled risk. Senseless hate crimes and incidence of COVID-19 cases and deaths spreading throughout the Black community display the continuance of systematic racism and privilege granted to white people in America. Our communities are experiencing the worst outcomes on all fronts. From every location reporting data in the nation, African Americans are being harmed—both in infections and fatalities—in higher percentages.

The Justice for George Floyd Petition:

  • Demands appointment of an independent special prosecutor to lead the federal government’s full and impartial investigation of the murder of George Floyd.
  • Demands reinstitution by the Department of Justice of consent decrees on police departments and municipal governments across this country that have demonstrated patterns of racism towards and mistreatment of people of color.
  • Demands sweeping police reform–federal legislation mandating a zero-tolerance approach in penalizing and/or prosecuting police officers who kill unarmed, non-violent, and non-resisting individuals in an arrest.

Sign the petition here … and join with those around the nation standing with the NAACP to say:

We must fight for equality during this uncertain time. We are done dying.
