Every Sunday we put our Faith into Action at All Saints Church and this Sunday — May 17 — we invite you to urge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to lead the House in supporting the wages of agricultural workers.
The Trump Administration is attempting to cut the wages of participants in the guest workers program in order to aid the agricultural industry. This would have the effect of depressing wages for all farm workers nationwide, immigrants and citizens alike.
These are essential workers who are out in the fields in this pandemic working to keep the food supply intact yet they are some of the lowest paid workers in the United States. We should be discussing how to give them bonus hazard pay for the risks that they are taking rather than attempting to cut their wages.
