Each week we feature one of the many ministries that make up the work and witness of All Saints Church. This week we offer this reflection from Sharon Weiser on her experience with our Accessibility Ministry.
I have been working with the Accessibility Ministry for several years with my certified therapy dog, Nicholas. During this time I have witnessed such devotion, compassion, and perseverance of all the leaders and participants in this ministry. They have effected change inside the sanctuary for seating, been advocates for children using playground equipment and access to being in the chancel via ramp/elevator, providing hearing devices and sign language during the service, and attending to individual needs. These hard working members reach out to all parishioners whose disability may not be evident and find ways to accommodate their needs. They fulfill one of All Saints core values of inclusiveness.
Nicholas visits parishioners in comprehensive hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, retirement homes, schools, Girl Scout Troops, and in their own homes. Nicholas and I are privileged to be part of this ministry.
