Dear Ones,
I want to share some wonderful news. Starting Sunday, June 20, we will be able to expand the ways to worship at All Saints church. In addition to participating in online church we are able to begin to offer in-person worship as well.
It has been 15 months since we last gathered in person for worship in this space. That’s a long time. I am so proud of how we have not only endured during this time but thrived. We have lived our values of radical inclusion, courageous justice, joyful spirituality and ethical stewardship in powerful ways. We answered the call of love by taking science seriously and listening to the counsel of medical professionals.
And that is what we are doing right now. Those three levels of counsel you have heard me talk so much about – State and local officials, our bishop informed by his own medical counsel of advice, and our own resident epidemiologist Dr. Nicole Gatto, who has been working with Sally Howard throughout this pandemic to develop common sense risk reduction protocols specific to All Saints Church all agree …the time we have been waiting for is here. It’s time to gather together again in person, and we will be doing that again starting Sunday, June 20.
So here is how it’s going to work … and here is what you can expect.
On Sunday, June 20 … not THIS Sunday, but on Sunday, June 20 … and, we hope, throughout the summer … we will have the same schedule we have had during the pandemic. There will be an 11:15 am service in English and a 1 pm service in English and Spanish.
*We will be seating people both in the church and out on the lawn, where we will have video monitors and speakers. At least initially, in the church we will be roping off every other pew and limiting capacity to 300 people. That may change as the summer progresses and is as much for easing anxiety and building our comfort level with being indoors in large groups as anything else. You may choose to sit on the lawn … and that will also be where you will be seated if we exceed capacity inside the church … kind of like we do with overflow seating on Christmas and Easter.
*Masks will be worn at all times either inside or outside.
*Music will be enjoyed through the gifts of instrumentalists and soloists but not through congregational singing at this time.
*Services will be kept under one hour so there will be some trimming down of the liturgy for the summer … and probably sermon length, too!
*When you arrive, you will be invited to choose one of three wristbands to wear that will help everyone know your preferred level of contact. Red if you prefer not to touch. Yellow if you’d like someone to ask you what your comfort level is. Green if you are free to hug and be hugged. You should always get to decide about touch and your body, and this is a way our brilliant Parish Celebrations team came up with to make it easier.
*There will be a children’s chapel service offered on the playground that will observe social distancing. Kelly Erin will be giving more details about that in the coming days.
You’ll be getting more communications about this in the coming days. We will continue to have Rector’s Forums for the rest of June – online, not in person — and then will take our usual break for the summer. On Sunday, June 20, we will have a forum that will look at all our procedures and rationales about coming back together in person … and if you are at all nervous about this I encourage you to stay home that Sunday, watch the forum, and hopefully it will ease your concerns and help you feel better about coming in person the next Sunday and into the future.
If you love being a part of All Saints Church online, fear not! Our online presence isn’t going anywhere. In fact, for the summer, you can just keep tuning in as you have been at 11:15 and 1 pm.
It has been a long 15 months … and as we come back together we are going to take the time to get to know each other again, to process what we have been through and what we are going through, to celebrate the amazing work we have done and to grieve the losses we have endured. This is a big step – and it is just one step. There will be others. And we are going to take our time and do them all together.

Quiero compartir una maravillosa noticia. A partir del domingo 20 de junio, podremos ampliar las formas de adorar en la Iglesia de Todos los Santos. Además de participar en la iglesia en línea, también ofreceremos adoración en vivo reuniendonos en persona.
Han pasado 15 meses desde la última vez que nos reunimos en persona para adorar en este espacio. Esto es mucho tiempo. Y estoy muy orgulloso de cómo no solo hemos aguantado durante todo este tiempo, sino que hemos florecido y prosperado. Hemos vivido nuestros valores de inclusión radical, justicia con coraje, espiritualidad alegre y administración ética de maneras poderosas. Respondimos al llamado del amor tomándonos en serio la ciencia y escuchando los consejos de los profesionales médicos.
Y eso es lo que estamos haciendo ahora mismo. Esos tres niveles de consejo de los que me han oído hablar tanto: los oficiales estatales y locales, nuestro obispo informado por su propio consejo médico, y nuestra propia epidemióloga residente, la Dra. Nicole Gatto, que ha estado trabajando con Sally Howard durante esta pandemia para desarrollar protocolos de reducción de riesgos con sentido común específicos para la Iglesia de Todos los Santos. Así es como va a funcionar … y esto es lo que usted puede esperar.
El domingo 20 de junio … no ESTE domingo, sino el domingo 20 de junio… y, durante todo el verano… tendremos el mismo horario que hemos tenido durante la pandemia. Habrá un servicio a las 11:15 am en inglés y un servicio bilingüe a la 1 pm en inglés y en español.
*Estaremos sentando a la gente tanto en la iglesia como en el área donde está césped, donde tendremos monitores de video y altavoces. Al menos inicialmente, en la iglesia acordonaremos todos los asientos y limitaremos su capacidad a 300 personas. Eso puede cambiar a medida que avanza el verano y esto es para aliviar la ansiedad y cimentar nuestro nivel de comodidad con estar en el interior en grupos grandes. Usted puede optar por sentarse en el área del césped … y que también será donde usted puede estar sentado si excedemos la capacidad dentro de la iglesia … algo así como lo hacemos con los asientos en Navidad y Semana Santa.
*Las mascarillas se usarán en todo momento, ya sea dentro o fuera de nuestro campus e iglesia.
* La música se disfrutará a través de nuestros instrumentistas y solistas, pero no a través del canto congregacional en este momento.
* Los servicios dominicales durarán no más de una hora, por lo que tendremos que recortar partes de la liturgia para este verano … y probablemente el tiempo del sermón, también!
*Cuando llegue usted a la iglesia, se le invitará a elegir una de las tres pulseras para usar que ayudarán a todos a conocer su nivel preferido de contacto. Rojo si prefiere no ser tocado. Amarillo si quiere que alguien le pregunte cuál es su nivel de comodidad. Verde si prefiere un abrazo. Siempre debe usted decidir sobre el tacto y su cuerpo, y esta es una forma en que nuestro brillante equipo de Celebraciones Parroquiales ideó para hacerlo más fácil.
*Se ofrecerá un servicio de capilla infantil en el patio de recreo que observará el distanciamiento social. Kelly Erin dará más detalles al respecto en los próximos días.
