January 31
“When they go low, we go local” was a rallying chant at the Pasadena Women’s Rally last Saturday. It is a good reminder that while we may sometimes feel overwhelmed in dealing with national issues, we can still make a great deal of difference at the local level. Affordable Housing is one of those issues that can have some local solutions.
Not only do we have more than 500 fellow Pasadena citizens who don’t have permanent housing, the soaring cost of rent is driving families out of the city. We need to find solutions that help maintain the diversity of Pasadena and allow the people who work in Pasadena to live in Pasadena.
To help move that conversation along, Sustainable World and The Economic Justice and Non-Violence Working Group are sponsoring a City Council Candidates Forum on Affordable Housing on Tuesday, January 31, 7 pm in the Forum. Rector Mike Kinman will host the evening and longtime ASC friend Rabbi Joshua Levine Grater will be the moderator.
All nine candidates for Districts 3, 5 and 7 will be present. Please join us to hear their views on how we can make Pasadena a more hospitable place for all our residents.
