How the U.S. Census Will Contact You

From March 12-20, 2020, households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census. 95% of households will receive their census invitation in the mail. Nearly 5% will receive their invitation when a census taker drops it off. Less than 1% will be counted in person by a census taker. Check out details here.

Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: by phone, by mail, or for the first time, the U.S. Census Bureau will accept responses online! The process will be quick and secure. You can respond to the census in less time than it takes to finish your morning coffee.
