At 9:00 a.m. from the Guild Room, Sunday Morning Live – Gratitude. With Susan Brown.
9:00 a.m. in the Guild Room. “It comes at us from every direction at this time of year, doesn’t it – be grateful for what you have been given – it’s Thanksgiving!” Gratitude is something deeper than green bean casserole, though, or in some families, the turkey that became the tamales and those are what we really crave! Gratitude is awareness of gifts and beauty in our lives often existing right beside undeniable pain. As the Buddhist teacher and psychologist Jack Kornfield said: ‘Gratitude is the confidence in life itself. In it, we feel how the same force that pushes grass through cracks in the sidewalk invigorates our own life.’ Come join this interactive exploration. Bring both your “cracks in the sidewalk” and your experiences of gratitude. Facilitated by Susan Brown, long-time parishioner and Administrator of By Your Side, an ECS Compassion Program.
10:00 a.m. Eucharist – Thomas Diaz will preach. Coventry Choir offers Cantate Domino by Schumacker. Follow the service with the service leaflet here (to be posted Saturday).
Join our Online Coffee Hour following the 10 a.m. service with greeter Jenn McGaw.
First Jazz Vespers of the Season: Russell Ferrante
5:00 p.m. on the Chancel. All Saints Parishioner and founding member of the YellowJackets, Russell Ferrante’s first exposure to music came from his church, where his father was the choir director as well as being a frequent vocal soloist and having a vocal gospel quartet. He began piano lessons at 9 with the expectation that one day he would be the church pianist…but his musical interests took him elsewhere. Russ has performed with Jimmy Witherspoon, Jim Pepper, Joe Farrell, Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, Robben Ford, Al Jarreau, Marilyn Scott, Kevyn Lettau, Ernie Watts, Sadao Watanabe, GRP, Big Band, Lee Ritenour, Tom Scott, Take 6, Michael Franks, Eric Marienthal, and Brenda Russell. Russell currently teaches in the Jazz Studies department at USC. Validated parking is available at Plaza las Fuentes. Information = www.russellferrante.com. Follow the service with the service leaflet here (to be posted Saturday).
