Radical inclusion and joyful spirituality are core values of All Saints Church—values we live out in community as a place to celebrate the events of your life. All Saints offers a place to share and celebrate the joyful events in your life and to find comfort during the difficult ones. Our clergy and staff can meet with you to help and guide you in these events. We celebrate many life events with sacraments of our church—baptisms, marriages, funerals and memorial services—and invite you to commemorate the events in your life at All Saints Church.

Baptisms

Holy Baptism, along with the Holy Eucharist, is one of the primary sacraments of the church. As a sacrament it is an “outward and visible sign of the inward and spiritual grace” of an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage necessary to persevere in the Christian life, the spirit to know and love God, and a profound sense of joy and wonder.

The celebration of the Holy Baptism is a celebration of, by and for the Christian community. As we renew together our baptismal vows and gather before the font and altar we both recognize and remember that we are bound together by our common faith in Jesus Christ. At All Saints Church, baptisms are offered throughout the year on specific Sundays and at the Easter Vigil.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop” (BCP, p. 860). It is an invitation to those who were baptized at an early age to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism, and receive laying on of hands by a bishop.

Youth Confirmation (Seekers)

Our eight-month confirmation class is designed specifically for those youth in grades 9–12th who are interested in learning about the Episcopal tradition, growing in faith and discovering and sharing that journey of faith with others. The program includes the opportunity to hear from great speakers, forge new friendships, deepen faith, and have the space to figure out whether Confirmation is right for you.

Adult Confirmation

At All Saints Church, the Confirmation program is a series of presentations, discussions and small group meetings designed for anyone wanting to go deeper into the history, theology and core values of the Episcopal Church. It concludes with the opportunity to receive the sacramental rite of Confirmation.

Weddings

At All Saints Church we understand Holy Matrimony to be a physical and spiritual union, entered into within the community of faith, by mutual consent of heart, mind and will, and with intent that it be lifelong. Our commitment to the sacrament of marriage being celebrated within the community of faith informs our policy of offering weddings for members of the parish.

In the Episcopal Church it is required that at least one of the parties be a baptized Christian, that the ceremony be attested by at least two witnesses, and that the marriage conform to the laws of the state and the canons (or laws) of the church. Our canons on marriage are fully inclusive of both same and opposite gender couples.

Typically, preparation for weddings at All Saints takes from 4 to 6 months, allowing time for scheduling and planning as well as for pre-marital counseling for couples with a member of our clergy staff.

Memorials & Funerals

The loss of a loved one provides us with not only an opportunity to celebrate the lives of those close to us, but also to come together for consolation and comfort. All Saints offers pastoral support, caring for families through the funeral planning process. We hope that it is comforting to know that All Saints Church will be part of celebrating life in the face of death and that we will be here for you.

We encourage parish members to meet with one of our clergy to begin planning your funeral in advance—and when the death of a member of the parish occurs, to contact All Saints as soon as possible. A death in the family can be reported using the pastoral emergency phone: (626) 298-9551.

All Saints Church has a Columbarium on the second floor of the bell tower in the balcony alcove. For more information, please read more about our Columbarium.

Arrangements for funerals and memorials are made by the family and clergy in consultation with our Pastoral Care department.
