Our New Director of Music!

From Mike Kinman: Rector of All Saints Church, Pasadena

I am thrilled to announce that, after a nine-month national search, Weicheng Zhao, currently All Saints Church’s Organist/Associate Choirmaster, has been called to be All Saints Church’s next Director of Music. He will begin his new post on August 1, 2018.

I know you join me in feeling enormous gratitude for Weicheng’s extraordinary musical gifts, which he has shared with us for the past three years, and deep excitement at the prospect of his assuming this new and important leadership role. His vision for All Saints’ music program is creative and compelling, and we are about to embark on a new journey that will be profoundly fulfilling.

Weicheng recently received his D.M.A. (Doctor of Musical Arts) from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California and is an internationally renowned musician.

The search process involved reviewing more than 80 applicants and interviewing some tremendously talented musicians. In the end, the Search Committee recommended to me and I concurred that the ideal person was already in our midst. I hope you will join me in expressing gratitude to the members of the Director of Music Search Committee: Co-Chairs Liz Tatum and Terry Knowles; Julian Caspole; Kyle Champion; Melissa Hayes; Andy Malloy; Sarah Phillips; Gloria Pitzer; Flor Quintanilla; and Keiko Sakatani. These people devoted a great deal of time, energy and intellect to this critical process, and I am so very thankful.

I will be officially introducing Weicheng at all four services this Sunday, July 1st. I hope you will be there to celebrate this great event and assure Weicheng and his wife, Fang, of the love and support of their All Saints Church family.

God is at work in wonderful ways and the future we are building together is thrilling.

More details on Sunday, July 1st here.
