Reading Lists for Lent: Food for the Soul on the Lenten Journey

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, and we will once again mark the beginning of the holy season of Lent — our forty day journey to Easter — with ashes on our foreheads and the ancient words of invitation to “the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word.

There are as many ways to observe Lent as there are people observing it, and for some of us it is a season to take on a book or two to “read and meditate on” as we journey through those forty days. We asked members of our ASC staff what they were reading during Lent, and here are some of their responses. We’d love to know what YOU are reading … or what you’ve read in the past you would commend to other pilgrims as food for the soul on this Lenten journey we share.
