“I liken dementia to cancer in the 1960’s, or AIDS in the 1980’s. An incurable disease spoken of in hushed voices, as if, if we don’t speak of it it will go away, and if we do speak too loud we will be mortally embarrassed. So I refuse to live with dementia on those terms.”
