“I wrote a book called ‘Culture Care’ as a way to do that as a culture, rather than fight culture wars, which are based on a scarcity mindset. Live in abundance, right? One advice that I have is — many people ask me ‘We’re starting an artists group,’ and I say ‘Actually it’s more important that the entire church is an artists group.’ And so if you’re going to create an artists group, don’t isolate yourself into a nice corner. Of course, you need that, but let that be a beginning point where you see yourself as emissaries of this abundance to your whole community. Remind people through your work, through your poems, and theater productions that you put on, and jazz vespers — that Jesus is inviting us into this new creation. A creation where abundance leads to more abundance.”
