Rector’s Forum October 13: No Hate in My Faith

“I went to school at Louisiana State University, which was a culture shock. Louisiana State University is in the deep South, in Baton Rouge. Growing up in Southern California you can really get into the mindset that racism is over, especially when Obama was president. There was talk about this post-racial society, and I was definitely drinking the kool-aid when it came to that. It was like ‘It’ll be fine! I’ll go down South and it’ll be cool.’ My grandmother, on the other hand, who had come from New Orleans in the Great Migration, she was freaking out. And rightfully so.”

Presentation by Blair Imani in the Rector’s Forum at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on Sunday, October 13, 2019.
