The Episcopal Church’s Role in Reparations and Truth Telling
Sunday, December 15, 12:00–2:00 p.m. in the Guild Room (Lunch provided).
Please join us as we continue the process of “telling the whole story” with an update on where our work here at All Saints connects to the work of the wider Episcopal Church work of reparations and truth telling. Questions on the table will include how do we as Episcopalians move towards Beloved Community, while reckoning with the sins of racism and White Supremacy? And how has All Saints as a parish been and will be engaged in this conversation and process?
The program will offer a report back from Mark Chase, Tim Rich, Susan Russell and Steve Williams on the recent Summit on Truth Telling & Reparations held at Virginia Theological Seminary. [Details on the Summit in this Episcopal News Service feature.]
We will hear a report out from the ASC Telling The Whole Story Committee, which has been working on All Saints’ role in addressing its own history of racial segregation in general and in the creation of St. Barnabas, Pasadena in particular. See the Telling The Whole Story: All Saints’ History of Jim Crow Segregation and St. Barnabas Church webpage for the latest updates on our progress.
And finally on Sunday, we will get a preview of Sacred Ground: a program developed by “Becoming Beloved Community” — The Episcopal Church’s long- standing commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice — coming to All Saints in the new year.
A light lunch will be served. All are welcome.
