This Sunday at All Saints Church: Advent Two

This Sunday, December 6 at All Saints Church we celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent — lighting the candle of Peace. Join us for a virtual Sunday celebration as we welcome Dr. Steven Thrasher to the Rector’s Forum at 10:00 a.m. for “AIDS and COVID19: What one pandemic can teach us about another” a timely and important conversation about overcoming the politicization of a global health crisis. Mike Kinman preaches at 11:15 a.m. and Wilma Jakobsen preaches at 1:00 p.m.

https://allsaints-pas.org/live-stream/ is the link for everything.
(The link above goes live at 9:45 a.m. and includes the 11:00 a.m. Children’s Chapel, the 11:15 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. services)

We will be live-streaming from the beautiful interior of All Saints Church. Ministers of the liturgy will be observing the social distance and safety protocols dictated by health care professionals and in compliance with our diocesan guidelines. And while we all long for the time when we can safely return for in person congregational worship, being able to center our online service in our familiar and beloved sanctuary is one step toward that eventual goal.

10:00-11:00 a.m. – AIDS and COVID19: What one pandemic can teach us about another

The COVID19 pandemic is bringing back tragic memories for those who survived the early years of the AIDS pandemic. The politicization of a global health crisis and huge disparities in care are chief among the similarities. This Sunday, Dr. Steven Thrasher, the Daniel H. Renberg Chair of Social Justice in Reporting (with an emphasis on issues relevant to the LGBTQ community) and author of the forthcoming book, The Viral Underclass: How Racism, Ableism and Capitalism Plague Humans on the Margins from Celadon Books and Macmillan, will join Peter Hulit and Art McDermott of All Saints Church to talk about what we can learn from the AIDS pandemic as we face COVID today.

11:00-11:15 a.m. – Chapel Time (two options)

Children’s Chapel – Kelly Erin O’Phelan invites everyone to light a candle and enjoy a story and a craft.

Meditative Chapel – This chapel time aims to be a liminal space between the hustle of life and household and a more tranquil, worshipful mindset. We’ll have a reading and a moment of meditation, you’ll just need yourself and a candle if you have one. Here is the link for the Meditative Chapel

11:15 a.m. English Service – Mike Kinman preaches

1:00 p.m. Bilingual Spanish/English Service – Wilma Jakobsen preaches
