On Sunday, August 13th we celebrate the 10th Sunday After Pentecost with four services of Holy Eucharist. We welcome former ASC staffer and adjunct clergy member Maggie Cunningham to the pulpit at 7:30, 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. Carolos Ruvalcaba preaches at the 1:00 p.m. Spanish service.

The Book of Acts: A Handbook of Resistance and Inclusion (Part Two)
with Brian Robinson
Restoring David’s Fallen House — Expanding Jewish Identity: As with any religious tradition, Judaism during the first century C.E. took many forms. This week will explore how the inclusion of the different Jewish identities encountered in Acts confirm God’s faithfulness to the covenant and demonstrate the community’s commitment to diversity. We will also examine how these examples demonstrate how community locates itself within the tradition of the Jewish prophets who called the people of God to actively engaged in practices of social justice .– Sweetland Hall

Death and Immortality: Alternative expressions of life after death (Part Two)
with Sally Howard
In part two of a four part series exploring different ideas about what happens to us after we die Sally Howard, priest and therapist, will discuss familiar yet deep religious ideas about life after death, and identify the major Christian ideas around the persistence of the soul.– Guild Room

Parent Culture: meets in Scott Hall 2.
Children: Kindergarten– 5th Grade meet in the Learning Center
Youth: Grades 6–12 meet in the Junior and Senior High Room

Children’s Chapel in the Learning Center (9:00 and 11:15 a.m.)
Children K–5th grade join their families in church at the beginning services, then follow the banner out for Children’s Chapel before the sermon, returning for communion. Parents are always welcome to join us in Children’s Chapel.

Parking on Sundays
Sunday parking at Plaza Las Fuentes (Westin Hotel) is only validated until 1:00 p.m. — after which parking fees accrue. If you are attending the 1:00 p.m. Spanish Language/Bilingual Service or staying for an afternoon event, please park at the Kaiser parking structure, north of the church on the northeast corner of Euclid Ave. and Walnut, where the parking is free.
