December 1st is the first Sunday of Advent! Scholar-in-residence Wil Gafney preaches at 9:00, and 11:15 a.m. Mike Kinman preaches at 7:30 and at the 1:00 p.m. bilingual Spanish/English Service.

At 9:00 and 11:15 a.m., Canterbury Choir offers Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence by Holst, with soloists Elizabeth Tatum and Jim Campbell and O sacrum convivium by Croce. At 9:00 Trouvères offer Lo How a Rose/The Rose by Hella Johnson. At 1:00 p.m. Dan Cole & Ensemble offer music.

with Wil Gafney
Womanist author, scholar and theologian, the Rev. Dr. Wil Gafney will discuss her scholarship and practice of biblical translation including her current work, A Women’s Lectionary, a new woman-focused calendar of Sunday readings for liturgy and preaching, selected and translated by Dr. Gafney. with Pat Hoffman
Pat will discuss her new book, Summoned and Shaped: Traveling Together Into Our Belovedness, a memoir of her call to change church attitudes toward the LGBTQ community. (Guild Room)

Advent Evening Service, Potluck and Wreath Making
In the Church. Minisingers, Mastersingers and Troubadours offer music, directed by Jenny Tisi. Kelly O’Phelan offers a meditation. For the potluck afterward, if you are able, please bring a dish that will serve 12 people. If your last name starts with A – L bring a main dish; M – Z bring a salad or vegetables. Children’s Chapel in the Learning Center (9:00 and 11:15 a.m.) Children K–5th grade join their families in church at the beginning services, then follow the banner out for Children’s Chapel before the sermon, returning for communion. Parents are always welcome to join us in Children’s Chapel.

Visit our Creative Worship Space for Families in the Chapel!
Families are invited to worship together through art and play on our rug in the chapel during any part of the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services. Families should stay with their children as this area is not staffed. All are welcome to sit in the chapel; please be understanding whenever our youngest members make a joyful noise.

Parking on Sundays:

  • On Sunday mornings, please note that the entire south-side of the North Parking Lot (just north of the church on the corner of Euclid Ave. & Walnut St.) is reserved for people with mobility difficulties.

For regular parking, follow ASC Parking signs to Plaza Las Fuentes (garage entrance on Union) or the Kaiser Parking Structure (on the northeast corner of Euclid Ave. and Walnut). Sunday parking at Plaza Las Fuentes is only validated until 1:00 p.m. — after which parking fees accrue. If you’re staying later, please park in the Kaiser Parking Structure, which is free and open until 4:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: On Sundays, All Saints Church can be a very busy place. It is a good idea to plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the service in order to have ample time to park and make your way to the church.
