Rector’s Forum: Why Religion? A Personal Story
with Elaine Pagels
Author and American religious historian Elaine Pagels will discuss her latest memoir Why Religion? A Personal Story. Elaine is the Harrington Spear Paine Professor of Religion at Princeton University. She has conducted extensive research into early Christianity and Gnosticism. Her best-selling book The Gnostic Gospels (1979) examines the divisions in the early Christian church, and the way that women have been viewed throughout Jewish history and Christian history. Modern Library named it as one of the 100 best books of the twentieth century. Copies of her books will be available for purchase.

Get Out the Vote!

From 1:00–2:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room, the Racial Justice Ministry and guest speaker Patricia Coulter, President of the Pasadena chapter of the League of Women Voters, will provide info on the new voting system for LA County, local races, March primary, the Census, voter registration and GOTV for November. Jazz Vespers: Russell Ferrante
Sunday, Jan. 12, 5:00 p.m. on the Chancel. All Saints Parishioner and founding member of the YellowJackets, Russell Ferrante offers music. He will be joined by Steve Schaeffer on drums,  Michael Valerio on bass and vocalist Marilyn Scott. Russ has performed with Jimmy Witherspoon, Jim Pepper, Joe Farrell, Joni Mitchell, Bobby McFerrin, Robben Ford, Al Jarreau, Marilyn Scott, Kevyn Lettau, Ernie Watts, Sadao Watanabe, GRP, Big Band, Lee Ritenour, Tom Scott, Take 6, Michael Franks, Eric Marienthal, and Brenda Russell. He currently teaches in the Jazz Studies Department at USC. Mike Kinman offers a meditation. Validated parking is available at Plaza las Fuentes. Preschool (ages 2–4) in Scott Hall 9:00 a.m. — Infant and Child Care and Storytelling 10:15-11:00 a.m. — Infant and Child Care 11:15 a.m.

Children’s Chapel in the Learning Center (9:00 and 11:15 a.m.) Children K–5th grade join their families in church at the beginning services, then follow the banner out for Children’s Chapel before the sermon, returning for communion. Parents are always welcome to join us in Children’s Chapel.

Visit our Creative Worship Space for Families in the Chapel!
Families are invited to worship together through art and play on our rug in the chapel during any part of the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services. Families should stay with their children as this area is not staffed. All are welcome to sit in the chapel; please be understanding whenever our youngest members make a joyful noise.

Parking on Sundays:

  • On Sunday mornings, please note that the entire south-side of the North Parking Lot (just north of the church on the corner of Euclid Ave. & Walnut St.) is reserved for people with mobility difficulties.

For regular parking, follow ASC Parking signs to Plaza Las Fuentes (garage entrance on Union) or the Kaiser Parking Structure (on the northeast corner of Euclid Ave. and Walnut). Sunday parking at Plaza Las Fuentes is only validated until 1:00 p.m. — after which parking fees accrue. If you’re staying later, please park in the Kaiser Parking Structure, which is free and open until 4:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: On Sundays, All Saints Church can be a very busy place. It is a good idea to plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the service in order to have ample time to park and make your way to the church.
